Fire trucks and kookaburras 
sing duelling duets. The sirens, 
stertorous and serious, urge 
all to be aware of the importance 
of their work.

The birds raucous laughing, 
jocular and rambunctious, 
ignores the clamour of the firies
with derision, content to 
complete their hilarity before 
considering if the drama 
unfolding before them is  
no laughing matter.

The siren volume overpowers 
the birds, but their risible 
cackle wins hands down for 
irony
